Fuel prices in all parts of India are revised daily at 06.00 a.m. after considering global crude price movements and foreign exchange movements.

The different retail tariffs of state oil marketing companies are caused by the regional policies, the different Value Added Tax (VAT) and freight rates. The state level of VAT and other pricing ordinances/charges on petroleum products maintained outside the GST-regimes, means the high cost of retail tariffs for the consumers in places like Hyderabad and Mumbai, while the state of Delhi and Chandigarh is still grossly-cheaper. Unless the international crude prices cross the critical thresholds, state OMCs would most likely keep the status quo.
