Ukraine Unmanned Systems Forces hits tanker feeder ships transiting the Volga-Don waterway.

Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces have conducted a lightning-fast maritime strike campaign capable of disabling 116 Russian shadow fleet vessels and cargo ships in just nine days in the Sea of Azov. By targeting this shadow fleet, Ukraine is capable of physically sanctioning Russia.

The destruction of these vessels is directly compromising the logistics necessary to supply Russian top commander’s war effort with the revenues Russia requires to bring this war to an end.

Russian crude oil cannot transit deep-draft vessels due to the deep-draft restrictions of the Sea of Azov. Because of this constraint, Russia surrenders to smaller vessels which then ferry petroleum products through the Don-Azov Channel and Kerch Strait using a ship-to-ship transfer to dockside and deep-draft crude vessels. Ukraines UAV-enabled attack strategy disabled a large number of small vessels and targeted the transfer. These attacks often destroyed cargo pipe work or bridge superstructures.

The consequences of the Ukrainian attacks are already being hammered into the Russian blade. Russia is experiencing very large scale logistical issues transmitting crude to Japan through the Sea of Azov, which is impacting the distribution of Japanese gasoline throughout occupied Crimea. It is evident by the attack on the Russian maritime shadow fleet vessels that the logistics used to support the oil export strategy of Moscow initiated by the Western economic sanctions are disabled.
