Central Armed Police Forces, 12,000 police and more than 200 executive magistrates strategically deployed in key corridors.

The holy coast town of Puri took a glimpse of Lord Jagannath's emersion on the step towards the end of homecoming of Hero in the world-famous annual Jagannath Rath Yatra where at the beginning of the holy saga lakhs of devotees assembled along the Grand Road (Bada Danda) amid the ardent sounds of conch shells, beating gongs and “Jai Jagannath” chants in the wish to see.

The pious procession is a once in a year event and on this special day, Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra will taking an escape from their Sanctum Sanctorum from their 12th century Confluence to travel for a month long pilgrimage to his Home Gundicha Temple.

The celebration began with the Pahandi ritual as the deities were pulled out step by step to their gigantic wooden chariots Nandighosha, Taladhwaja and Darpadalana. Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb, the titular King of Puri performed the old ritual of sweeping the entire chariot platform with a golden broom to prove his humility to the Almighty. Brahmins are supposed to wash out their sins if they pull the massive chariots with a stretch of thick 250 foot long cord of coconut fiber rope to pull the chariots down the 2.5-kilometre-long stretch, an act which is supposed to bring a divine blessing and cleanse sin for millions.

As per Odisha administration a multi-level security curtain was laid on to manage the crowds movement and to prevent any untoward incidents and along with that almost 13,000 police personnel, 15 companies of Central Armed Police Forces was in place; over 500 AI enhanced CCTV cameras, drone surveillance and Integrated Command Centre also monitored the entire vagons in real time; there are already strict rules to allow limited chariot cordon passes and a Coast Guard patrol along the coast and they will keep the medical corridors tight on high alert so that the grand spiritual festivities can be carried out unhindered under strict security.
