The RBI has issued in its bulletin the effect of the West Asia conflict and how it has caused the world’s Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The breach in the peace agreement between America and Iran has caused a significant increase in the CPI to now be 3.9%, previously at the rate of 3.5% in May. This has driven the prices of other necessary commodities to also inflate, causing great disdain among customers worldwide.

Due to the sudden increase in the CPI, inflation in the rates of fruits and vegetables, food grains, fuels, and other goods can be seen.

Due to the surge in prices, India also faced an increase in fuels in around 30.3% in May. The rates of cooking gas (LPG) have also increased to around ₹ 60 in the last month. The inflation has risen around 8.3% this year compared to the previous years.

The Bulletin was released on 22 June, 2026, and states how the uncertainties of the war-like situations have caused turbulence in the world economy; however, India still holds an upper hand due to its previous actions on foreign exchanges, maintaining current account balances, and also by promoting Indian-based manufacturing and production.

The RBI also stated that the coming monsoon may have a heavy impact on inflation and the growth of the economy, as further trade disruptions can lead to this outcome.
“The economy entered this turbulence with much better fundamentals relative to many other countries to sustain the shock,” was the mindful claim by the RBI, representing the strategies India has undertaken to preserve its economy.
