In a time where social media reels and stories are usually about fleeting trends, a recent video from Beldanga in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district brought medical rescue that could potentially change a life forever. In the clip, 16 year old Iqbal Sheikh is seen sitting calmly in a local pond and munching snacks. Iqbal has a medical condition that causes a burning sensation all over his body when he steps on the dry land.

Unable to sustain long-term specialized nurturing, a destitute Iqbal’s family petitioned in public for assistance as local physicians cautioned about the compound medical risks that continued immersion would bring, along with? Severe skin maceration, tissue softening and increased susceptibility to fungal and bacterial infections. The plight of the teenager was so tragic that Ambani personally intervened to ensure that Iqbal would receive a treatment at an advanced and specialized level. He personally ordered to airlift the teenager from West Bengal to Mumbai and all related expenses were paid.

He was transferred to the Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital on reaching Mumbai, where a squad of top specialists has taken his case. The doctors are doing a number of investigations to find the reason for the teenager’s debilitating symptoms, with medical experts postulating a split rare neuro dermatological condition such as erythromelalgia.
