Making recent highlights after the 2026 held Norway Chess Championship held from 25th May to 5th June, he had at this competition defeated the number one champion Magnus Carlsen for the second time. Praggnanandhaa holds the title of the “First Indian to win” the said championship. But his career as the youngest and most finest of the chess champions starts from an early age.

Born on August 10, 2025, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Pragganandhaa also came to be known as “Pragg”. Born to a classic Tamil family, he wasn’t the only one in his family to earn the title of “Chess master”, his elder sister R. Vaishali has also done the same in 2023, marking both of themselves as the Brother-sister champion combo.

He had achieved his first ever title of Grandmaster at the World Junior chess championship In November 2017. Although this wasn’t is first win, he had consecutively participated and excelled at various chess championships from 2013 to 2017 as the “new champion” and then forth maintained the title of Grandmaster till date. Aside, from chess he has also been said to have interest in various other sports such as table tennis.

As a respect to his efforts and dedication, he has been awarded the Arjuna Award by the President of India in 2022, a proof to this continuous progress and making the motherland proud. He has also been rewarded with the title of “Youngest International Master” at the age of 10 only.

He has played an important role in showcasing how the Indian land which had innovated the game of chess, still holds a unremarkable leash in the field of this game along with various other chess champions of this country.
